Drone Tower Inspection for UPPTCL

O V E R V I E W

The project aimed to establish technical specifications for patrolling and monitoring Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission lines, including 765kV, 440kV, 220kV, and 132kV, using Drones for precise and efficient maintenance.

O B J E C T I V E S

The aim is to improve Inspection and Maintenance with Drones, enhancing efficiency and safety in assessing challenging areas through Visual and Thermal Inspections.

T E C H N O L O G Y  U S E D

UPPTCL's Drone Inspection initiative leverages the Mavic 3T drone, equipped with RGB and thermal sensors. Post-flight, the HelloGeo software processes RGB images, while the Thermal tool analyzes thermal data, enhancing inspection precision and reliability.

CAPTURE

Drones equipped with RGB and thermal sensors capture images of the transmission structure.

DATA  EXTRACTION

Valuable data is extracted from these images.

REPORTS

Three critical reports are generated:

ANOMALIES REPORT: Utilizing the HelloGeo software, it highlights visual irregularities

THERMAL REPORT: Thermal software is used to pinpoint areas with heat generation or hotspots in components.

ANALYSIS REPORT: This report assesses dysfunctionality in all 46 components of the tower.

ACTION

Informed maintenance decisions are made, bolstering power grid reliability
